Rhodia Webnotebook -- First Look

Just a quick peek at the new US-distributed Rhodia Webnotebook! I'll have ink tests and more pics later, but I just wanted to throw up a few pics! :-)

(As always, click on any photo to enlarge.)

Front view, still shrink-wrapped:

Rear view, shrink-wrapped:

From top to bottom: Piccadilly small lined notebook, Moleskine small ruled notebook, Markings by C. R. Gibson small notebook, Rhodia Webnotebook, Quo Vadis Habana small lined notebook.

Same notebooks in reverse order.

That's all for now! More to come later! :-)

These are very nice notebooks. I have a couple that I just cracked open and can't wait to use. I look forward to your review. Nr

Will we be getting these in the UK though? Can you ask your friendly VP please?

Nice way to present them in comparison to other journals. :)

Nrepose: Thanks! We'll have to compare notes! :-)

AndyH: Karen takes (great) care of the US, but I'm not sure if she knows about the UK. I've asked her, however! She's off to an international meeting, but I promise to post an update if there's new info about the UK!

inkophile: Thanks! Someday, I hope to do a mega-comparison review of pocket-sized journals. But I've got such a backlog, it might not be for years, at this rate! ;-)

Oooh, can't wait for your ink tests! I'm looking for an alternative to my Moleskine, because Noodler's Kung Te-Cheng feathers like crazy. Mixing it just makes it worse. :P

Great comparison. Thank you. I'm very anxious to try these since I love my Rhodia pads. How is the line spacing? I'm hoping it's at least as narrow as the Moleskine.

AndyH:

I received a gracious response from Karen, the VP of Marketing for the US distributor. She said the 90g will be available in the US & Japan (though that's not to say that individual vendors might not special order them). The lucky Aussies may get them later this year. If Canada decides to distribute them, then they will get them, too. Other than that, those are the only countries that she knows of that are considering the 90g paper.

There's a company rumor that all Webnotebooks might switch over to the 90g paper eventually, but that wouldn't be until 2010 or later.

Hope this helps! :-)

SFSusan: The line spacing on the Webnotebook is 6mm (I just measured). Consistent with my measurement, it's a shade wider than the lines on the 5x5 Rhodia gridded paper. Unfortunately, I don't have a Moleskine with me right now to compare, but I think Moles are supposed to have 6mm line spacing.

Hope that answers your question! :-)

No, no, no!!! I was hoping for batter news!!

AndyH: Sorry to disappoint. :-(

Perhaps you can convince a local vendor to special order some for you (especially if you have a group order)? Or perhaps one of the US/Japanese vendors will have reasonable overseas shipping?

I hope you find a solution!
